Valerie Duprat, a native of France, is a renowned shaper based in Encinitas, CA with her own label, Mere-Made Surfboards. She started shaping in 2011 as a creative outlet, but it has led to her studying the craft, learning from other shapers, and developing her own process and style. At the 2021 Boardroom Show she competed against Timmy Patterson in the Icons of Foam Shape-Off honoring Pat Rawson. Today, she hand-shapes custom surfboards for many different clients, but one gets the ultimate priority in the queue: her daughter, Victoria Duprat.
Victoria Duprat is an up & coming surfer with an incredible future ahead of her. The youngest surfer in a family full of surfers, she started competing at the age of 8 and hasn’t looked back since. She’s continued as a competitive surfer, winning numerous titles both as an individual surfer and as a team member, throughout middle and high school. She was the 2024 USA Surfing National Champion U16 Division, and was part of Team USA for the 2025 World Junior Championships in Peru. As a young professional surfer traveling the world, she always has a piece of home with her thanks to Valerie and Mere-Made Surfboards. Currently this is the only mother/daughter shaper/surfer pair on the WSL.
Join us for a moderated conversation with Valerie and Victoria, followed by a short Q & A Session. We will also open our new Making Waves Exhibit featuring Victoria and Valerie Duprat. There will be a raffle to win a custom Mere-Made Surfboard shaped by Valerie for the winner, along with other used boards of Victoria’s as part of the raffle.
Stay tuned for more Women on Waves 2026 events. We look forward to not only honoring the great women of surfing’s history, but also encourage women to create new history in and out of the water.
