Peli Can Surf

Peli Can Surf is a children’s book I wrote about a young girl pelican who is bullied by her local crew because she was born with bent wing. However she flies just fine and glides over the waves like the other pelicans. But one day she watches humans surfing round waves and realizes she can use her bent wing to ride the tube. Her self confidence and wave-riding skills transform her into a community leader at her home beach. Future stories and adventures are planned for Peli that will take her along the coast and around the world.

Sweet tale of a pelican who is bullied because she is different, yet she uses her difference to her advantage and perseveres in the end. Great story line, well written with cute illustrations. We need more books embracing diversity such as this one!

I have two young boys who absolutely loved the story. They understood very quickly the relationship between the characters in the story and real life events. The whole family is looking forward to Peli’s next adventure.
